NFL Offseason Survival Guide: what you can do after NFL 17 offseason

NFL 17 has been the most popular sports game in a short period of time. Fans are going crazy for it. Why? It’s for the NFL 17 season. Now 2016-17 NFL season is over, if you are a fan of NFL 17, may you would be confused with what to do for the next 8 months. Do not be worry. Here are some suggestions.

Important Offseason Dates
The offseason is boring, but you still may want to keep up with your favorite NFL team. Here are some important dates you may want to write down on the calander:

Feb. 28-March 6: NFL scouting combine, Indianapolis
March 9: Free agents may sign contracts with new teams and trades may be made starting at 4 p.m. EST.
March 26-29: Annual league meetings, Phoenix
April 3/17: Offseason workouts can begin (only new head coaches can start on the 3rd, all other head coaches must wait until the 17th)
April 27-29: NFL draft, Philadelphia
May 5-8, 12-15: Rookie minicamps
June: Full-team minicamps
Aug. 3: Hall of Fame game, the NFL’s preseason opener in Canton, Ohio. For the first time since 2005, the game will not be played on a Sunday night but rather on a Thursday night
Sep 7th:  Thank God Almighty! Football is back!

2 different leagues: AFL and CFL
There are 2 different leagues that play during the NFL offseason; the Arena Football League (AFL), and the Canadian Football League (CFL). The AFL is a 8-on-8 indoor football league that plays on a 50-yard football field the size of a hockey rink, which allows for harder hitting and higher scoring. They also play ironman style, which means that a player will most likely play more than one position (i.e a linbacker might play tight end). Many new teams have also been added to the league this year, including a new team in my hometown of Washington, D.C, the Washington Valor. The first game is on 7 April 2017. The CFL is a football league that, like the AFL, has diffrent rules and a different field length to the NFL but is still fun to watch. Some differences include an 110-yard football field, 12 players instead of 11, and only 3 downs instead of 4. The first game will be on 6 June 2017.

Watch other sports
For anyone who likes the hard hitting aspect of football, my suggestion is to watch hockey in the meantime. The saying is that the H in hockey stands for hitting and that's no lie; there are at least 30 hits per game, perfect for keeping the football fan entertained until there favorite linebacker delivers the hits again. Also, the infamous NCAA March Madness is coming up soon. Even if your not a basketball fan just as I am not, it is still fun to fill out a bracket among friends and watch the hype as the tournament goes on.
