NFL 2017 Awards winners has been released

Less than 24 hours before he has to take the field for Super Bowl LI, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan won his first-ever MVP award during the NFL Honors award show on Saturday night from Houston. The Falcons passer became the first player in franchise history to win an MVP award, which headlined an evening in which he was recognized for three different honors.

Here are the awards handed out Saturday night, some of which are way, way more important than others:

AP NFL Most Valuable Player Award - Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons
AP Coach of the Year Award - Jason Garrett, Cowboys
AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award - Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons
AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award - Khalil Mack, LB, Raiders
AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award - Dak Prescott, QB, Cowboys
AP Defensive Rookie of the Year Award - Joey Bosa, DE, Chargers
AP Comeback Player of the Year Award - Jordy Nelson, WR, Packers
Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award - Larry Fitzgerald, WR (Falcons) & Eli Manning, QB (Giants)
Art Rooney Award - Frank Gore, RB, Colts

Bridgestone Performance Play of the Year - Mike Evans, WR, Buccaneers (one-handed catch against Falcons)
Greatness on the Road Award - Le’Veon Bell, RB, Steelers
Salute to Service Award - Dan Quinn, Falcons

While the Patriots and Falcons will be busy finishing off preparations for Super Bowl LI, the rest of the NFL’s superstars will be in Houston for the league’s answer to the Emmy’s. The NFL crowned its most valuable player, top rookies, No. 1 head coach, and elite rookies after a rousing 2016 season.

Several favorites emerged over those 17 weeks. Ryan looks like a lock to win MVP, while Elliott, who ran for a league-high 1,631 yards in 15 games, finished behind his quarterback, Prescott, for the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Though Prescott said he wanted a knife to split the award in half. Defensive Player of the Year was a close a race, with Oakland’s Khalil Mack edging Denver’s Von Miller, last year’s winner.
